Glasto '09: who the headliners won't be
Eavis promises: "No U2"
Emily Eavis - Glastonbury Festival head-honcho alongside her farmer father Michael - has revealed who will NOT be headlining next year's event, topped this summer by Jay-Z, The Verve and Kings of Leon.
With tickets for 2009's three-dayer of music, mirth and most probably mud going on sale early next month - October 5 to be precise - Eavis (pictured) has made it clear that headliners will be confirmed earlier than ever before to boost first-wave ticket sales.
Who's playing, she's not saying, but who's not Emily's happy to spill. She spoke to the BBC:
"Because our tickets go on sale on 5 Oct, we've brought [the announcement of headliners] forward. So we're ensconced in chat about next year and there's a lot of good feeling after such an amazing festival [in 2008]. We're talking to a few people at the moment and I think pretty soon we'll have some stuff sorted, [but] it's not Coldplay, it's not U2 and it's not the Rolling Stones."
Mick Jagger, unavailable for comment, is no doubt gutted.
