Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards are set to return to KOKO early next year, with performances scheduled from Mala In Cuba, The Invisible and more.
Continuing to support new music which might otherwise be left on the fringes, Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards have become a much loved affair. Entering its eighth year, the ceremony will return to KOKO on January 19th for another instalment.
This morning (December 7th) organisers confirmed plans for a number of live performances. Gilles Peterson's own Brownswood imprint recently released 'Mala In Cuba' - an album which matched the sounds of dubstep to Cuban culture.
One half of Digital Mystikz, Mala recently unveiled a live show focussing on the album. Joined by a range of percussionists, guest musicians and vocalists the producer demonstrated the sheer vitality, the potential contained within the project.
Set to appear live at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards, Mala In Cuba will be joined by The Invisible. A much loved group, the South London band recently returned with their emotional second LP 'Rispah' - partially inspired by the death of a loved one.
Elsewhere, Brazilian born Lucas Santtana is set to appear while former member of Portico Quartet, Nick Mulvey is also scheduled to perform live.
