Kansas punk-pop outfit hit U.K.

Influential power-punk outfit The Get Up KIds are set to hit the U.K. for a rare string of live dates in August.

With everyone from New Jersey outfit Midtown to million-selling pop-punks Blink 182 citing them as a massive influence, The Get Up Kids' mix of powerful punk rhythms and melodic, glosssy pop saw the group inspire a host of then-teenage rock acts.

Band tensions the Kansas city group to implode in 2005, with many of the acts influenced by their sound going on to become globe-trotting megastars. However after a short hiatus, late last year the five-piece announced they would return for a run of shows to celebrate their debut's tenth anniversary.

The band are now set to return to tour the world, with the tenth anniversary release of their explosive debut 'Something To Write Home About, having re-grouped in 2008.

Tickets for the shows are set to be snapped up in record time, as group have not yet cited whether they would return after the tour. The U.K. leg will see them hit Birmingham, Kingston, Manchester and London in August.
