Manchester indie icon Morrissey has cancelled yet another show as he struggles to recover from a throat illness.
As lead singer with The Smiths, Morrissey waltzed his way into the indie hall of fame. With his poetic lyrics and keening voice, the Manchester figure was an instant icon even as The Smiths disintegrated in 1987.
Two decades into his solo career and Morrissey is still firing on all cylinders. Recent troubles with the press after a controversial interview seem to have fired up the songwriter. New album 'Years Of Refusal' was met with acclaim by critics, and spawned the Brit-baiting single 'I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris'.

However recent live performances by Morrissey have been dogged by ill health. The maudlin bard was forced to cancel a number of North American shows after falling ill, while a recent performance at Coachella was halted after the vegetarian singer was overcome by the smell of nearby burger vans.
Returning to Britain for a number of UK shows, the singer appeared to be on fine form playing a number of well received shows. However he has now developed a throat illness which has resulted in the cancelation of several tour dates.
Performances in London's Royal Albert Hall and Birmingham's Symphony Hall have been re-arranged for October, but it seems that the cancellations are set to continue.
The forthcoming show in London O2 Academy Brixton on May 28th has now been cancelled. According to the statement "Morrissey is on continued doctor's orders not to sing, to ensure a complete recuperation."
The show was part of an ongoing residency at the venue, with further shows planned for May 29th and 30th. It is not known whether these dates will also have to be cancelled.
All ticket holders for the cancelled show on May 28th are advised to keep their tickets, with an announcement expected to be made on possible rescheduled dates soon. The Brixton Academy show joins scheduled performances in London and Salisbury on the cancellation list.
Despite cancelling previous shows, Morrissey was able to play a show in Manchester's Apollo venue on May 24th - the day of his 50th birthday. Cue jokes about 'Unhappy Birthday', 'Still Ill' etc. etc.
Morrissey's next scheduled show is in London's O2 Academy Brixton on May 29th.
