Friendly Fires Notting Hill Date
Carnival appearance for indie troupe
Friendly Fires have announced a special performance at London’s Notting Hill Carnival this weekend.
St. Albans dance-pop trio Friendly Fires will appear as special guests on the float run by Rhythm Of The City, the drum troupe who have recently performed live with the band and feature on samba-infused new single ‘Kiss Of Life.’
The band’s float will begin its journey at the top of Ladbroke Grove at 11am and will wind its way through the carnival with Friendly Fires performing at various points along the way.
Flamboyant front man Ed McFarlane and co. have spent the summer embracing their obvious love of samba music, and have been accompanied by percussion and dancing girls in costume at various festivals.
Friendly Fires discovered samba music during a tour of South America, writing 'Kiss Of Life' on their return. The band’s self-titled debut album has been a slow burning success since its release last year, resulting in a nomination for this year’s prestigious Mercury Music Prize.
Of course, Friendly Fires will be far from the only musical act at this year's Notting Hill carnival. Norman Jay will be DJing as ever with his Good Times Sound System while the Channel One DJs will be dreader than dread, spinning some red hot reggae.

Notting Hill carnival takes place on August 30th.
