Friendly Fires Festival Plans
Group plan a busy summer
Saint Albans shoegazing sensations Friendly Fires have revealed that they are planning a busy summer with appearances at Bestival and The Big Chill already confirmed.
Friendly Fires were one of the breakthrough acts of 2008, releasing their celebrated self-titled debut album. The trio blend the classic shoegazing sound perfected by bowl-haired groups such as Ride and The Pale Saints with a modern indie aesthetic, crafting songs that have music lovers drooling.
The band took over from Radio 1's Zane Lowe and took the opportunity to chat with fans about their festival ambitions. Lead singer Ed MacFarlane said "we've got Bestival confirmed which is our favourite festival so we're really looking forward to that one."
"We're doing a European tour and then we're doing a US tour and we're basically touring for about another three months," added MacFarlane.
"We're headlining one of the stages at The Big Chill. We'll be there dancing along with the kids."
The band used the opportunity to play some of their home listening on the program, replacing Zane Lowe's cutting edge dance and indie sounds with Michael Jackson, Burt Bacharach and Warren G - more power to them, we say!
