Friendly Fires All-Nighter
The Invisible, Joe Goddard to play
Shoegaze trio Friendly Fires have confirmed plans for a spectacular all night show to finish a spectacular 2009.
Friendly Fires have flirted with the mainstream for some time. Way back in the dark days of nu rave it seemed as if the St Albans trio were set to be sucked into that media drive scene, though Friendly Fires wisely steered clear.
Eventually signing to indie label XL Recordings the band began work on their debut album. Released earlier this year the self-titled album was a huge success, spawning a number of singles.
Blending euphoric noise with melody, Friendly Fires seemed to catch the imagination wherever they went. A successful tour of South American introduced the band to samba rhythms, with the trio swiftly recording a new single on their return to Britain.
Nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, Friendly Fires are now set to finish the year with a spectacular all night show. The band are due to host the entertainment in The Coronet, inviting along a host of friends to make up the bill.
Friendly Fires will perform a live set, before returning to the stage behind the decks. Joining the band will be fellow Mercury nominees The Invisible while DJ sets will come from Kompakt legend Michael Mayer, Hot Chip star Joe Goddard and more.
DFA signings Shit Robot are set to keep the crowds moving, while Wild Geese and Motor City Drum Ensemble are also due to drop by.
Tickets for the all night show go on sale from Friday (October 16th).
Friendly Fires are set to play the following show:
