Franz Ferdinand Secret Show

Scots play acoustic Manchester show

New Scottish gentry Franz Ferdinand have performed a secret show in Manchester, playing a host of favourites.

Franz Ferdinand emerged from the Glasgow art community, playing shows in friends' bedrooms, shop fronts and of course the famous Chateux venue.

However as the band's fame has increased Franz Ferdinand don't often get the opportunity to play intimate shows. The Scottish indie heroes were able to turn back the clock in Manchester on Saturday (October 17th) playing a secret show.

Taking place at Mrs Boon's Tea Party at The Ruby Lounge, the event is hosted by Inspiral Carpets keyboard player Clint Boon and his wife Charlie.

A Manchester institution, the event was opened by Sonic Boom Six. A reggae act the band are local favourites with politically motivated material.

During the show the audience remain seated, eating homemade cake and drinking tea out of china cups.

With little introduction Franz Ferdinand then dropped by for a special acoustic slot. Alex Kapranos and Nick McCarthy took to the stage to play a varied set that drew on their entire back catalogue.

Opening with fans' favourite 'Do You Want To?' the band ran through a series of hits. Closing with 'Ulysses' from their recent smash hit album 'Tonight: Franz Ferdinand' the group seemed on lively form.

Currently heading around the UK on a lengthy tour, you can watch fan footage of Franz Ferdinand playing 'Walk Away' below...
