Franz Ferdinand Mock Star

Nick McCarthy injures foot

Scottish indie gentry Franz Ferdinand have posted a new video mocking injured guitarist Nick McCarthy.

Franz Ferdinand returned earlier this year with their new album . The group's first new album in nearly four years, it came after convoluted recording sessions but has resulted in perhaps their most daring record yet.

Spawning the singles 'Ulysses' and 'No You Girls' the album's sonic experimentation is set to continue with 'Blood', a new Dan Carey produced dub album which completely reworks 'Tonight: Franz Ferdinand'.

The band are set to play a string of festival dates over the summer. Franz Ferdinand confirmed recently they are booked to play this summer's Glastonbury event, and will follow this with an extensive British tour.

However this all depends on guitarist Nick McCarthy recovering from an injured foot. The guitarist has been forced to walk around on crutches, but the band have shown him no mercy uploading a new video which shows McCarthy hobbling around.

Set to the tune of 'Time To Say Goodbye' by classical singers Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman, the video shows the guitarist attempting to negotiate his way through the Colorado woodland.

"I've bust my foot and it's driving me insane but the shows are brilliant," he wrote on the band's official blog. "(I'm) sitting around all day with my foot over my heart, to get the swelling down they tell me. I had to get out..."

In the description of the video McCarthy explains that he is trying holistic therapy ("Kneipp Kur") to try and speed up the recovery process.

"This is the old Austrian tradition of the Kneipp Kur, which I learned back in my childhood in the Bavarian alps," he explained. "Who'd have known it would ever come in handy?"
