Franz Ferdinand Chart Battle
Scots beaten by Springsteen
Scottish indie gentry Franz Ferdinand have been pipped to the post by Bruce Springsteen, whose new album has gone in at number one on the British charts.
Franz Ferdinand have finally released their long awaited third album. 'Tonight: Franz Ferdinand' is one of the most anticipated albums of the year, containing the band's first new material in almost four years - click here to read our verdict! Lead single 'Ulysses' was a relative flop by their standards, though, only barely reaching the Top 20.
The band's new album reached number two in the charts this week (February 2nd). Top spot was claimed by returning American icon Bruce Springsteen.
The Boss' new album 'Working On A Dream' was debuted on the campaign trail with Barack Obama, with the singer playing numerous voter drives and frequently sharing a stage with the politician.
The album was also a big success in the United States, where it followed an album of greatest hits released exclusively via Wal Mart. Some have criticised the singer for the move, claiming that Wal-Mart's approach to labour rights contradicted Springsteen's own stated beliefs. In an interview with the New York Times the singer said "our batting average is usually very good, but we missed that one."
