Foo Fighters Row

Group Take On John McCain

US rock group and former Clash Magazine cover stars Foo Fighters are set to take on US presidential candidate John McCain, after demanding he stop using one of their tracks.

John McCain's campaign trail has been resounding to the sounds of the Dave Grohl track 'My Hero'. The Vietnam veteran is running for office under the banner of the Republican party, who tend not to be too popular with rock stars.

The US Presidential race has used songs to portray political messages from the beginning. Numerous groups have played benefit shows for both candidates, with the more alternative edged groups tending to favor Democrat Barack Obama.

Many other acts have objected to their tracks appearing in the political arena, including 80s rockers Heart and soul legend Sam Moore.

McCain's camp claim that as they have a public license they can play "millions of different songs".
