Internet broadcast confirmed

American alt rock group Foo Fighters are set to come out of hiatus for a very special show in California.

Foo Fighters emerged from the ashes of Nirvana, with Dave Grohl moving out from behind the drum kit. The loveable musician stunned fans with his subtle grasp of pop and punk, playing virtually every instrument on the band's debut album by himself.

Since then, Foo Fighters have gone on to become a hugely respected act in their own right. Releasing the album 'Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace' in 2007 and toured the world shortly after.

However years of living out of each other's pockets on the road left the band feeling jaded. Foo Fighters announced they were going on hiatus last year, with the group undertaking a variety of side projects.

With a new 'Greatest Hits' compilation due for release later this year Foo Fighters have decided to come out of retirement for a very special show.

The band are set to play in Studio 606 in California, with the entire show being broadcast in Facebook. The gig will are at 2am on Saturday (October 31st) with more details available via Foo Fighters' Facebook page.

Collecting together their best known tracks alongside a few special rarities, 'Greatest Hits' demonstrates the songwriting skill of Dave Grohl. Due to be released on November 2nd, the band are following a growing trend for internet shows.

U2 recently performed live on YouTube, with the website recording a show in the United States. The Dead Weather, meanwhile, recorded a gig without an audience for Nigel Godrich's webcast.

Foo Fighters are set to release their 'Greatest Hits' collection on November 2nd.
