Malawi event returns

Foals are set to headline this summer's instalment of Malawi festival Lake Of Stars.
When the tents come down and festival goers finally troop home, the surrounding fields are often a desolate place. Discarded tents, smouldering bonfires and debris spread for miles around. Imagine if all that could be harnessed to something good...
Well, in Malawi the festival Lake Of Stars is aimed at improving the lives of some of the poorest people on the planet. An impoverished African nation, the country plays host to one of the most unique events around.
Returning for another instalment, Lake Of Stars organisers have confirmed an appearance from Foals. The Oxford group returned with their second album last year, and are an imposing live act.
Due to perform on African soil, Foals have promised a number of surprises for the Lake Of Stars crowd. Mixing Western music with African fare, organisers have extended the bill with a number of new announcements.
Reggae stars Black Missionaries, afropop legend Lucius Banda plus hot new stars Maskal and Skeffa Chimoto are all due to keep the crowds entertained.
Festival founder Will Jameson says “It’s hard to imagine a better festival than last year- our biggest and best to date. This year will be justly global, truly Malawian, showcasing a diverse mix of traditional and new African music, art, poetry, fashion, markets, food and more.”
“I encourage you to come and experience first-hand what is being talked about from London to Cape Town. Where else can you see over 70 live acts from Africa and Europe playing everything from indie to kwaito to reggae and dubstep in a location that Wanderlust travel magazine hails as one of the Top Ten emerging travel destinations in the world" he said.
Lake Of Stars runs between September 30th - October 2nd.
