Flaming Lips To Work With Nick Cave
Gummy projects continue
The Flaming Lips have revealed that they are set to work with Australian songwriter Nick Cave.
The Flaming Lips have clearly mis-placed their marbles. The band revealed earlier this year that they intended to complete a song lasting some 24 hours, while another track would be buried within a human skull constructed from Gummy.
The sweet material seems to be a fetish of sorts for the band, who have teamed up with an American company for a variety of projects. Speaking to Pitchfork, Wayne Coyne revealed that fans can expect plenty more projects.
"We just got some good music from Deerhoof, Nick Cave, No Age, Stars, and Death Cab for Cutie, but we don't know really what will come of it because we haven't been able to do too much with their stuff just yet. I'm thinking the next one is going to be a four-song EP with Deerhoof that comes out in December" he said.
"We've done a couple of things with Nick Cave, but he's on tour right now so it won't be until after November that he's able to do more. But I think we'll get a good Nick Cave collection of songs with the Flaming Lips. We already have one really good one, so that seems like it'll work out. Even weird people like Lykke Li, I love the way she sings. We're trying to do something with her, and she seems interested. I wanna do something with Ke$ha, even. I'm up for anything."
As for Gummy, The Flaming Lips have not yet tired of working with the sweet substance. "The guy we know who has the gummy factory is so insane" said Coyne.
"We have an edible, psychedelic frog coming out. It's a clear frog that you can pour psychedelic dust on and then lick it - it's going to be a pretty good one. And we're going to make a skull that has an actual vaginal fucking thing stuck to the back of it - you have to reach into it to get the USB."
