Flaming Lips For Green Man
Oklahoma group to headline
American psych-pop oddballs The Flaming Lips have been confirmed as the first headliners for Green Man.
Founded by Welsh indie folk duo It's Jo And Danny, Green Man has grown from humble DIY roots to become an award winning fixture on the festival circuit.
Yet the event has never lost its otherworldly origins. The Brecon Beacons site was blessed by Celtic druids last year, who performed a spell to cast away any rain. It worked - well, kind of - and revellers had a ball watching some very special sets.
American men of the moment Animal Collective headlined, with Jarvis Cocker and Wilco also treating main stage audiences to some festival frolics.
However the real fun was to be had elsewhere. Green Man has a distinctive community feel with revellers banding together to create something quite unique. Celebrating new talent, organisers allowed DJ team Amorphous Androgynous to curate a day's worth of psych-out festivities.
Now Green Man organisers have confirmed the first details of the 2010 event. Returning to Glanusk Park in Powys the event will take place between August 20th - 22nd, with The Flaming Lips set to headline.
The Oklahoma band must be fond of dramatic landscapes at their festival shows, with The Flaming Lips headlining this year's RockNess festival. Performing with a gaggle of Teletubbies dancing onstage, the band blasted through a series of hits.
Green Man is set to take place between August 20th - 22nd.
