Flaming Lips On British Acts

Wayne Coyne Reveals Favourites

Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne has weighed into the debate over why British acts don't do that well in America, stating that some acts are too much of an acquired taste for that market.

Coyne recently unveiled his group's new motion picture 'Christmas On Mars'. Recorded entirely in his back garden, the film is a psychedelic journey into outer space. In production since 2001, the film has stunned critics and fans alike.

The singer was asked recently why British acts fail to break America. "I've never got Arctic Monkeys, they seem too much like a British thing to me. They're like Oasis whereby Americans can't really relate to them," he told British red top the Daily Star.

"Lots of British people like it but not for me, and I don't like Razorlight or Duffy much either."

However Coyne is a fan of a few British acts. "I prefer Radiohead, they deserve to win a Grammy. And I'm still a fan of Amy Winehouse but hope she doesn't become too much of a drug addict."
