The legendary Firetrap Sessions are set to return with a special event in Edinburgh on May 22nd.
After 2 years of UK wide tours, the ever-popular clothing brand’s musical alter-ego keeps on gaining momentum with a classic one-off in the UK’s northern most capital of cool. Firetrap have once again teamed up with the indefatigable arbiters of taste at Clash Magazine for something a little special.
For one night only Firetrap and Clash will take over the famous Cabaret Voltaire venue for some of the best music on offer in Britain today. Headlining will be The Duke Spirit, the blustery blues-rockers fronted by the ever-glamorous Leila Moss. An electrifying live act, the band are riding the crest of a wave having released their latest album – “Neptune” – to great acclaim earlier in the year.
Also on the bill are Glasgow’s finest purveyors of acerbic indie Frightened Rabbit. The group are almost workaholics, recording and touring constantly. Live, the band are full of barely contained energy – the only thing predictable about this band is their unpredictability.
Finally, manning the wheels of steel will be JG Wilkes - one half of the famous Optimo DJ team. Wilkes will be mixing an experimental concoction of the best in electro, funk, punk and rock plus a whole lot more besides to turn the dancefloor into a messy collision of limbs. Namechecked by The Rapture, Franz Ferdinand and Hot Chip amongst others, Optimo is one of the UK’s most respected clubnights, and JG Wilkes is the ideal end of night vinyl virtuoso.
This night is FREE, tickets can be obtained simply by heading as soon as you possibly can to the Edinburgh Firetrap store on Multrees Walk and requesting one of the limited free tickets.
The new Firetrap store is on 13-14 Multress Walk, Edinburgh and the event will take place at Cabaret Voltaire on Thu May 22nd.
