Ahead of new album

Explosions In The Sky are set to return to the UK next year for tour dates ahead of their new album.

Explosions In The Sky are well named. Live, the band attract massive crowds, are utterly spectacular but above all... LOUD.

The American group craft beautiful mini-symphonies, post-rock but not post-beauty. Taking time off, it seems that Explosions In The Sky are set to stir into life with news of tour dates and a new album.

Spending the bulk of this year in the studio, the band are close to completing the follow up to 2007's 'All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone'. Returning with their fifth studio album, the material is set to see the light of day next Spring.

Explosions In The Sky are signed to Bella Union, with no further details given besides the news that the band "are currently putting the finishing touches" to the material.

Meanwhile, the band have confirmed details of their first headline shows in the UK for two years. Taking place in May, the American group will play only twice with tickets set to go on sale shortly.

The shows are set to take place in May, with Explosions In The Sky opening the tour on May 17th in Manchester. Playing the city's Academy venue the band will then perform at London's historic Roundhouse venue.

A rock landmark, the old walls of the Roundhouse are due for a pounding with Explosions In The Sky planning to unveil their no doubt volcanic new material.

What with a new album / tour from Scottish tykes Mogwai, the post-rock scene really will be spoiling us in 2011...

Explosions In The Sky are due to play the following shows:

17 Manchester Academy
19 London Roundhouse
