Exclusive: Razorlight / Florence Update

Razorlight Man Only Wrote One Song

Highly acclaimed newcomers Florence And The Machine have received a helping hand it seems, after Razorlight singer Johnny Borrell admitted in a new interview to writing their material.

With Razorlight releasing a new album this year, it seems singer Johnny Borrell must have hit a rich songwriting vein after admitting he also writes for Florence And The Machine.

The group are on the BBC 'Sound Of 2009' longlist and have been given a Brit Award after only one single. The band are led by Florence Welch, and Borrell claims he kept himself distant in order to allow them to gain acclaim on their own merits.

He told the Daily Star: "Florence And The Machine are friends of mine but I haven't really talked about it before because the press always get the wrong idea and they're just starting out."

"They've been playing some of the songs in their live set for a while now."

UPDATE

It seems that Johnny Borrell may be getting carried away with himself, according to Florence And The Machine's management. Borrell is indeed friends with the group, and co-wrote a ditty with Florence Welch some time ago. But that sole songwriting credit is all he has, and the song won't be appearing on the band's forthcoming debut album and the group very rarely play it live.
