Erasure Box Set Due

Mammoth retrospective planned

A mammoth retrospective from synth pop legends Erasure is due, with the band set to release a four disc box set titled 'Total Pop!'.

Formed by Vince Clarke after splitting Yazoo, the producer discovered singer Andy Bell after more than 40 auditions. The pair bonded instantly, but the group's first three singles flopped.

With many predicting disaster for the project, the single 'Sometimes' became a massive worldwide hit sparking one of the most successful careers of the 80s. Erasure eventually scored twenty four consecutive Top 20 hits in Britain, selling 20 million albums worldwide.

The box set will contain unreleased material as well as all the group's hits. The DVD section of the release will contain fifteen live songs, alongside over a decade's worth of appearances from the BBC including the band's memorable Top Of The Pops performances.

The next interview of Clash Magazine has a fascinating interview with lead singer Andy Bell - new issue out soon!

Also due out around the same time is an album of remixes, featuring reworkings of classic Erasure songs by Vince Clarke, Manhattan Clique and Sweden's Sound Factory.

Erasure's box set is due out in the United States on April 7th.
