Ahead of new UK tour

Emmy The Great has spoken about the themes dominating her new album 'Virtue'.
A promising young songwriter, Emmy The Great's debut album had a breezy charm which bordered on nonchalance. However for the follow up, the London based artist appears to have had her heart broken.
'Virtue' is a dissection of religious themes, comparing fairytale figures with a very modern set of icons. For Emmy The Great, life has suddenly got complex and this is reflected as ever in her songwriting.
Due to be released next week (June 13th) the singer penned a fascinating introductory guide for ClashMusic. "When I was writing my second album, I started to notice that each song had a character that was stuck in situation" explained Emmy The Great.
"Over time, I started to see them as representatives of ‘reality’, lost in a strange world, trying to find their way out" she said. "As it happened, many of these situations ended up with themes that came from fairy tales or myths. This was unintentional but as time went on I started to see how these themes repeat themselves again and again in stories, legends, movies, comic books, video games…Then I read a bunch of books and realised I was not the first person to notice this."
