Eminem Bruno Stunt Was Staged

Writer confesses in his blog...

American rapper Eminem had his comeback at the recent MTV Movie Awards ceremony sabotaged by Sacha Baron Cohen - but it appears the entire affair was staged.

Eminem returned recently with his sensational new album 'Relapse'. The rapper's first blast of new material in five years, the album flew straight to the top of the charts across the planet scoring massive first week sales in the United States.

The rapper launched the album with a free show in Detroit to 2000 lucky fans. Eminem had previously appeared on British TV with Jonathan Ross, however the MTV Movie Awards was to be his most high profile performance in some time.

After rapping his new single 'We Made You' the rapper took his seat to enjoy the ceremony. However things began to go wrong when Sacha Baron Cohen's character Bruno arrived to hand out an award.

The gay Austrian journalist flew in on wires dressed as a dove, when he appeared to get caught in the cords. Plummeting to earth, he landed on Eminem's head, with the rapper's face pointed directly at Bruno's bare buttocks.

Storming out of the ceremony, the show was reduced to chaos as guest attempted to regain their composure.

Members of Detroit rap group D12 threw Bruno off the rapper, leaving the comedian dangling helplessly in the air.

Already the video has become an internet sensation, with news of the event spreading rapidly. However almost immediately doubts were raised: wouldn't Eminem just get out of the way? Why was he wearing a mic? Why did the camera know where Bruno was going to land?

However it seems that the event was all a gag, scripted by the head writers of the ceremony. In a break with tradition, MTV Movie Awards organisers brought in some of America's most talented young writers to work on the show, producing some sensational results.

Comedian Scott Auckerman has chosen to clear up any confusion regarding his role in the scenes.

In a blog posting he wrote: "Yes, the Bruno/Eminem incident was staged. That's all anyone wants to talk about, so let's get it out of the way.

"They rehearsed it at dress and yes, it went as far as it did on the live show then."

Full length feature film 'Bruno' is released later in the summer.

Staged or not, the whole thing was pretty funny. Here's the clip again...
