Elbow For South Bank Show

Career to be charted

Bury group Elbow are set to be the subject of a South Bank Show focussing on the band's career.

After years of hard graft, Elbow have now broken through to the mainstream. A groundswell of public support saw the group pushed to the Mercury Music Prize, picking up the award in emotional circumstances.

The band's album 'The Seldom Seen Kid' went on to become a massive chart success. Featuring Guy Garvey's stunning voice and mature songwriting, its emotional feel seems to have struck a chord with the British public.

Long celebrated as a potent musical force, Elbow's back catalogue is now getting the credit it deserves. The band are due to re-issue their debut album 'Asleep In The Back' later this year, with the original material being expanded with a raft of radio sessions and rare live material.

Set to begin work on their new album soon, Elbow are due to be the subject of a documentary on the South Bank Show. Speaking to the band, Guy Garvey & Co. will look back over their 18 year career.

Taking in label rows, critical acclaim, near constant touring and missed opportunities the Elbow story ends with the most thrilling happy ending of all - massive public success.

The band recently finished a UK tour with a special show in Manchester backed by one of Europe's finest orchestras. Not a bad way to bow out!

The forthcoming documentary will feature never before seen live footage of Elbow rehearsing when they were still teenagers. In addition to this the show will include live footage from Manchester's MEN Arena.

The upcoming Elbow episode of the South Bank Show will be broadcast on November 15th.
