New shows announced

Efterklang are to collaborate with the Northern Sinfonia on a series of upcoming shows.

Efterklang have always had grand, lush leanings. The artful Danes have a history of mixing experimental whims with rock songcraft, so when news came through that the band were preparing to work with the Northern Sinfonia nary an eyebrow was raised.

Sitting at the forefront of classical music, the Northern Sinfonia will join Efterklang to interpret the band's music in new, striking ways.

The project - titled The Piramida Concerts - will focus on Efterklang's forthcoming album 'Piramida'. To pull the project together the Danish band have teamed up with classical arrangers Missy Mazzoli (Kronos Quartet, Victoire), Karsten Fundal (Under Byen, Oh Land) and Daníel Bjarnason (Sigur Rós, Múm) to push their songwriting into an orchestral realm.

Performing as a six piece, Efterklang will be joined by Peter Broderick (piano), Katinka Fogh Vindelev (choir) and a mystery drummer to be announced at a later date.

Of course, this isn't the first time the band have entered the classical realm. Back in 2010, Efterklang worked with Icelandic composer Daníel Bjarnason - watch footage of that collaboration below.
