Dr Dog Return
Tour dates, album due
Philadelphia based psych rockers Dr Dog have confirmed details of their new album.
Dr Dog are oddballs even in the oddball-orientated world of underground American rock music. Hailing from Philadelphia, the band's psych rock sound is rooted in a love of 60s greats and ignores the past 30 odd years of progression.
At times deep down and dirty, Dr Dog also have passages of sweet melancholy. Matching expert musicianship with rapidly maturing songwriting, the band have gathered a cult following in recent times.
2008's 'Fate' saw Dr Dog enter the mainstream. Breaking into the Billboard Top 100 the band won critical acclaim for their mixture of rootsy retro rock with a strictly modern sensibility.
Taking time off, Dr Dog are set to return with a very different sound. 'Shame, Shame' is set to be released on April 5th and is said to be deeply influenced by punk rock and reflects the band's live show.
Moving from their home studio Dr Dog have made us of a professional studio for the first time in their life. Using outside producer Rob Schnapf the band have managed to nail down a uniquely organic sound.
Perhaps the band's most autobiographical album to date 'Shame, Shame' is layered in Stax style horns. Soothed by bright harmonies the band seem have come to a crossroads, keen to take drastic new steps together.
With their new album due to be released on April 5th Dr Dog have confirmed a very special London tour date.
