Download: Tennis - Is It True?
Tackling the Brenda Lee classic
Tennis have released a special cover of the Brenda Lee classic 'Is It True?' as a free download.
Partly composed during a voyage across the Pacific, Tennis' debut album 'Cape Dory' was a sun kissed delight. The back story gave rise to numerous cliches - oceans of reverb! currents of melody! - but at it's heart 'Cape Dory' was a good old fashioned pop album.
Sure, the glistening guitars hinted at indie pop of yore but there was also an obvious appreciation for 60s pop. Preparing to release new single 'Take Me Somewhere' on July 18th, Tennis have prepared a new cover.
Available as a free download, Tennis breeze their way through a rendition of the Brenda Lee classic 'Is It True?'. Grab it below...

Alaina Moore explains why they chose the cover... "Brenda Lee has been a great source of
inspiration for me. We stumbled across the song 'Is It True', a less popular single she recorded later in her career and loved it not just for her more mature, crackly voice, but for the randomly awesome inclusion of a very young Jimmy Page on electric guitar. The song is such a jam, we really enjoyed the chance to record it ourselves. Despite the limitations of recording it on a 4-track cassette, and then having to mix it in a pinch on an 11 year old lap top, that crashed regularly, all the parts we love are there."
Tennis have confirmed the following UK show:
