Doherty Cheers For QPR
Singer Plays Tiny Gig
Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty has been up to his usual tricks, playing a tiny gig in London and giving a big shout out to his favorite football team Queens Park Rangers.
Doherty is a long time supporter of the club, having once written his own fanzine on QPR. Its worth pointing out that not that long ago (the mid 90s in fact) Queens Park Rangers were in fact the best club in London, finishing high in the Premiership.
The singer was onstage at the Camden Monarch in London when he made the claim, just before playing a version of the Libertines b-side 'Cyclops'. "So are QPR gonna stuff Man United next week then?" he asked the crowd. "I hope so. Let's hope for the best, eh?"
The crowd in the venue roared their approval, chanting "super hoops" in honor of the team.
Doherty has pledged his allegiance to the club on more than one occasion, writing an anthem for the side in 2005 but refusing to release it until the team win the FA Cup. Be prepared for a long wait.
