DJ Hero Announced
Turntable follow up for game
A turntable based follow up to Guitar Hero has been announced, with DJ Hero due later this year.
The game has been long rumoured, with the DJ based software the logical follow on point from the best selling game. The Guitar Hero franchise has grown from strength to strength since it launch in 2005, spawning numerous special editions including an upcoming instalment featuring Metallica.
A separate game Rock Band has also been released, which has also become a worldwide hit.
A much maligned artform, being a DJ involves no small measure of technical skill and musical nous. From its roots in hip hop and disco culture, the role of the DJ has evolved to become one of the most prominent taste makers in the modern music industry.
Dutch trance DJ Tiesto accidentally leaked news of the game in 2008 when he claimed he was set to team up with makers Activision to launch the product.
The game will allow users to play competitively as well as spinning discs and mixing songs.
DJ Hero is set to be released later this year.
