Dizzee Rascal Retains Number One

'Bonkers' hits number one

Returning UK hip hop don Dizzee Rascal has retained the official UK number one slot for the second week running with his new single 'Bonkers'.

Loud, proud and completely over the top. That's right - Dizzee Rascal is back. One of Britain's most gifted and outrageous performers, the rapper can compete with his Stateside cousins without adopting any wannabe Yankee traits.

Dizzee Rascal's music is steeped in hip hop yet retains his British identity. Previous massive hits such as 'Fix Up Look Sharp' blend dancefloor beats with rhymes that are part humorous and part nonsense.

'Bonkers' was produced with Armand Van Helden are marks a return to dance for the well loved rapper. Last year Dizzee Rascal scored a massive hit with 'Dance Wiv Me' written with Scottish producer Calvin Harris.

Harris has already struck gold this summer with his rave pastiche 'I'm Not Alone', and has now been followed by his one time sparring partner.

Elsewhere on the singles charts Australian duo The Veronicas rose more than one hundred places with their song 'Untouched'. The latest successful export from Australia, it comes as the sun shines and Britain begins to feel a little like Down Under.

Electro minx La Roux remains in the top ten, with her song 'In For The Kill' at number seven despite being, well, not very good. Still, it should help shift copies of Skream's dubstep reworking which is always a good thing.

Black Eyed Peas make it a hip hop one-two on the charts, with the US crew claiming number two with their new track 'Boom Boom Pow'.

Former number one Tinchny Stryder has fallen to number four. Naming his single 'Number One' the producer immediately set his eyes on the heights, promptly scaling the charts and claiming pole position.

US rap megastar Eminem released his massive new album 'Relapse' not long ago, and his single 'We Made You' is just clinging onto its top ten status. Resting at number ten, the single is backed with a controversial video that mocks celebrity culture with 'appearances' from the likes of Amy Winehouse.

The full UK singles Top Ten is as follows:

1. 'Bonkers' - Dizzee Rascal
2. 'Boom Boom Pow' - Black Eyed Peas
3. 'Release Me' - Agnes
4. 'Number 1' - Tichny Stryder
5. 'Red' - Daniel Merriweather
6. 'Kiss Me Thru The Phone' - Soulja Boy Tellem Ft Sammie
7. 'In For The Kill' - La Roux
8. 'Untouched' - The Veronicas
9. 'Not Fair' - Lily Allen
10. 'We Made You' - Eminem'
