Even in London, it’s not often opportunities like this arise. A show inside a venue attached to the capital’s only existing lighthouse, featuring three of the most exciting new acts. If that isn’t enough, they will be performing with a full 22 piece orchestra and choir. This is the passion project of London collective The Coveryard, who have been described by Time Out as “spellbinding”.
The location is Trinity Buoy Wharf, and after a sold out event last year at Battersea’s Testbed 1, this will be the collective’s first event of 2014. For that, they bring some serious talent to mark the occasion.
Former Clash Next Wave star Denai Moore will headline the show, pitching her wondrous soul folk against the majesty of an orchestra. Support will come first from D/C, a multi-instrumentalist 22 year old who guides his jazz, soul and electronica soundscapes with the rawest of vocals. And the line up is completed by Sam Brookes, a man whose recent artist Kairos was described by The Telegraph as a “21st century folk dream”.
It doesn’t stop there, and in between acts, The Coveryard collective will be reinventing classic tracks in their own orchestral way. Expect to hear covers of Lauryn Hill, The Smiths, Joni Mitchell and more.
Early bird tickets have sold out, but you can still buy advance here.
