Deftones Host Charity Auction

Metal icons Deftones have enlisted the help of some famous friends for a new charity auction.

Deftones are one of the most exploratory metal groups of all time. Loosely grouped into the 'nu metal' bracket in reality the band's brave attempts to cross genres mean that they are permanently out of step with the likes of Limp Bizkit.

Due to return last year with their album 'Eros' recording sessions were halted following a serious car crash involving much loved bass player Chi Cheng. The musician was left in a coma and has struggled with his health ever since.

Currently in a semi-conscious state it is not known if Chi Cheng will ever play music again. Facing huge hospital bills Deftones have grouped around their comrade to raise money in a new charity auction.

Joining forces with a raft of celebrity friends, Deftones have enlisted the likes of Metallica, My Chemical Romance, System Of A Down, Slayer and HIM. The auction features a wide range of prizes, ranging from signed guitars to a day in the recording studio with Blink 182's Mark Hoppus.

Speaking to fans, Deftones singer Chino Moreno claims that he hopes Chi Cheng can make a full recovery. "I truly believe he will return to us one day when he is good and rested with a great story to tell in his off the wall Cheng sense of humour. Chi is one tuff 'MF' and if anyone can make it through this, it's gonna be him."
