Decemberists Record Rock Opera

Band Talk About New Record

Portland, Oregon art-rock collective The Decemberists have recorded a rock opera, according to a new interview with leader Colin Melloy, it is reported.

The singer was interviewed by US magazine Rolling Stone when he made the claim. The Decemberists have not released an album since 'The Crane Wife' in 2006, but have been busy in the studio putting the finishing touches to their latest epic.

In the new interview Melloy claims that the forthcoming LP 'Hazards Of Love' will be a rock opera. "It's a twisty, fantastical story about a woman named Margaret who is ravaged by a shape-shifting animal; her lover, William, who is desperate for the two of them to be reunited; a forest queen; and a villainous rake," he says.

Continuing, Melloys states that "everyone's going to call it a rock opera".

Well Colin if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

The Decemberists are set to release their new album 'Hazards Of Love' in 2009.
