Death Cab Cover The Cure

New Valentine's comp announced

American giants Death Cab For Cutie are among the artists set to appear on a forthcoming Valentine's Day themed compilation.

Every year in the weeks leading up February 14th the shelves of our record stores fill up with cheap compilations covered in red hearts and lipstick kisses. Rising above this poor standard, new compilation 'Sweetheart: Our Favorite Artists Sing Their Favorite Love Songs' does exactly what it say on the tin.

Released by Starbucks on January 30th in the United States, the album contains some unexpected delights. Death Cab For Cutie cover goth icons The Cure's 'Love Song', while Northern troubadour Richard Hawley takes on Gordon Lightfoot's anthemic 'Early Morning Rain'.

AC Newman, frontman of New Pornographers, contributes a stunning new version of 80s classic 'Take On Me' by A-Ha while a host more artists deliver different takes of familiar classics.
