Introducing... Fingersnap

Soulful vocalist David McAlmont has teamed up with respected songwriter Guy Davies to form Fingersnap.

With his soulful vocals and dynamic stage presence, David McAlmont has been a fixture in British music for two decades. Collaborating with a number of songwriters, a recent trip to Ireland saw the singer focus on a new project.

Working with composer Guy Davies, the live shows saw a new layer emerge in their material. Deciding to name the project Fingersnap, the first material from the duo has now seen the light of day.

“Earlier this year Guy and I went to Ireland to write and play some gigs" McAlmont explained. "The writing that emerged was tougher, starker and more conscious than anything I’d done before and it felt like a new statement, a new band. It felt like the new material would perfectly book-end the last 20 years of the ‘McAlmont Thing’ so we decided that it should be called something new and after much deliberation, we finally settled on Fingersnap!”

Meanwhile, Guy Davies has revealed a little of what fans can expect from the project. "We took an objective look at what we where playing live since we got back together in summer 2010 and realised we wanted to inject tempo, attitude and a general ‘up-ness’ to the proceedings. This in turn revealed a more soulful attitude in David’s vocal execution and also enabled us to wig-out as a band”.

Fingersnap have completed work on their debut EP, with 'Smokehouse' due for release on November 14th. Confirmed tracks include 'Mister' and the controversial song 'The Bishop Of New Hampshire'.

Lead track 'I Wanna Rise' has been given a full video, while the full EP is streaming right now the duo's website.
