Darkstar have lined up two remix EPs, with Zomby and Motor City Drum Ensemble due to take part.
Signing to Warp, Darkstar's new album 'News From Nowhere' won outstanding critical acclaim. Leaving plenty of space in their productions, the band are prime targets for remixers.
Deciding to re-work tracks from the recent full length, the group have commissioned two remix EPs - '01484' and 'HD7'. Released on chunky 12 inch vinyl, Darkstar have recruited some revered guest producers.
Inaugural release '01484' features Darkstar re-working 'Young Hearts' and 'Armonica'. The flip contains a remix from Motor City Drum Ensemble, with the German producer tackling 'A Day’s Pay For A Day’s Work'.
Musing on the title '01484' the band said:
"01484 and HD7 are the dial code and postal code of Huddersfield and its surrounding areas. We chose to use them on the 12”s as the remixes are an extension of the record News from Nowhere which was recorded in Slaithwaite West Yorkshire".
Listen to MCDE's re-work below.
Due for release on October 14th, the second 12 inch is titled HD7 - set to drop later this year, it is billed as featuring a remix from Zomby, but as the man himself just Tweeted:.
