Danger Mouse Trilogy

Hip Hop Producer Has Been Busy

Acclaimed hip hop producer Danger Mouse has never been one to do things by halves, and has announced his return through no less than three different projects.

Firstly, Danger Mouse has been working extensively with Martina Topley-Bird on her new album, contributing both his production skills and songwriting prowess. Topley-Bird, whose last album was nominated for the Mercury Prize, is already highly regarded for her work with Tricky. The resulting material will be released as “The Blue God” on Independiente this summer.

In addition to this, Danger Mouse has also had a hand in the new album by The Shortwave Set. In a superstar affair, the UK three piece have found themselves teamed up with The Velvet Underground’s John Cale, while the strings on the record are arranged by Van Dyke Parks – the former Beach Boys arranger. Released in May, the Danger Mouse produced affair will be entitled “Replica Sun Machine”.

Completing the trilogy is the return of the chart crushing Gnarls Barkley. Comprised of Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo, the duo made UK chart history by getting to number one on download sales alone. The pair have been holed up in a studio near Atlanta recording the follow up to their platinum selling debut. The results will be released soon, though the album is as yet untitled.

With these trilogy of releases set to dominate the charts and critical polls, 2008 looks set to be the year of the Mouse.
