Iconic Aphex Twin Video
Video Director Chris Cunningham

Controversial short film ‘Rubber Johnny’ by acclaimed award winning director and video artist, Chris Cunningham, is to be re-released on Warp records on the 19th of April. This will be the last ever pressing of this DVD package.

‘Rubber Johnny’ is an abstract short featuring music by legendary electronic composer, Aphex Twin. Shot entirely on DV in infra-red, this lo-fi live action animation is technically unbeatable. The packaging also presents Cunningham’s first published sketchbook of original drawings and photographic artwork.

The re-release of this iconic piece of film comes alongside the premièring of brand new material in a live multimedia AV show featuring remixed, unreleased and brand-new videos and music to create what promises to be an amazing spectacle. This new live 75 minute show, the 'Chris Cunningham show' will be showcased at very select venues in mid-April (please see dates below).

Combining global commercial success with cult status, and regarded as the leading artist in his field, Chris Cunningham is famed for his iconic videos for artists ranging from Aphex Twin and Squarepusher to Madonna and Bjork. His Grammy-nominated video for the latter's ‘All is Love’ can still be seen in New York's Museum of Modern Art (MoMa). His early influences, a love of Sci-fi, horror and broad musical inspirations including Tomita, Vangelis and Kraftwerk helped established this identity. In his early years he worked with film director Clive Barker, before being head hunted by Stanley Kubrick. Latterly he has turned to music production helping produce The Horrors and recently Donna Summer. This collaboration for Gucci created a new vocal for the iconic song ‘I Feel Love’ which won a Golden Lion at Cannes. A broader public perhaps know him for his videos but Chris has also produced installations for the Royal Academy and the Anthony d’Offay Gallery.
