Crystal Castles For New Year

The traditional New Year celebrations in New York have announced their line up, with Canadian 8-bit terrorists Crystal Castles set to thrill the assembled crowds into 2009.

Crystal Castles have had a stunning year, releasing their debut album and encountering controversy at every turn. Not that the band care - live, they seem to thrive on the antagonism of the crowd. Looks like the New York audience will be in for a treat!

Also on the bill are My Morning Jacket, who have been hidden away from sight recently after frontman Jim James was injured a live show. Joining them will be Blonde Redhead and punk priestess Patti Smith.

The band's will play a variety of venues all across the city. Crystal Castles will play the Music Hall Of Williamsburg, while Patti Smith will take over the famous Bowery Ballroom.

My Morning Jacket have beaten them all however, and will headline the historic Madison Square Garden.
