Crime & The City Solution have re-emerged, organising their first tour dates in two decades.

An integral part of the Mute story, the chronology of Crime & The City Solution is rather difficult to unravel. Beginning in Australia, the band then move to London in 1984 and hook up with Mick Harvey (of Bad Seeds fame).

Refusing to settle down, in 1987 Harvey linked up with songwriter Simon Bonney in Berlin. Drafting a new incarnation of Crime & The City Solution, the band released several acclaimed albums which fused near Industrial tones with typically dark songwriting.

Fizzling out in 1991, it's a complex story which leaves most newcomers feeling daunted. Thankfully, Mute have stepped in to offer new compilation 'An Introduction To… Crime & the City Solution / A History Of Crime - Berlin 1987 – 1991'.

Out on September 24th, the compilation draws on the Berlin years - in particular the album trilogy 'Shine' (1988), 'The Bride Ship' (1989) and 'Paradise Discotheque' (1990).

Once this is out of the way, a re-constituted Crime & The City Solution are set to release a new album. Recorded in Detroit, the forthcoming full length represents the band's first fresh burst of material since 1990.

Out on September 24th, the latest incarnation of the band are also planning to head out on the road. Simon Bonney (vocals), Bronwyn Adams (violin) and Alexander Hacke (guitar), and are set to be joined by visual artist Danielle de Picciotto, Jim White (drums, The Dirty Three), David Eugene Edwards (guitar, 16 Horsepower / Wovenhand), Troy Gregory (bass, The Dirtbombs / Swans / Spiritualised) and Matthew Smith (keyboards).

Matching new material to songs hand picked from their Berlin and London periods, Crime & The City Solution will fuse their live performances with a visual backdrop designed by new member de Picciotto.
