Courtney Love has tackled Lana Del Rey after the American singer chose to cover Nirvana's 'Heart Shaped Box'.

Nirvana were masters at using a little sugar to help the medicine go down. Take 'Heart Shaped Box' - on the surface, a classic rock song but if you dig a little deeper you might just notice a hidden meaning...

Lana Del Rey has taken to covering 'Heart Shaped Box' in concert, something which has drawn Courtney Love's attention. The Hole singer wrote a series of Tweets aimed at the young artist, revealing the song's true meaning. (via NME)

"You do know the song is about my Vagina right? 'Throw down your umbilical noose so i can climb right back,' umm… On top of which some of the lyrics about my vagina I contributed. So umm next time you sing it, think about my vagina will you?"

Released back in 1993, 'Heart Shaped Box' nonetheless managed to reach number five on the UK singles chart.

Speaking recently Lana Del Rey explained that Kurt Cobain has been an influence on her from a young age. "When I was 11, I saw Kurt Cobain singing 'Heart-Shaped Box' on MTV and it really stopped me dead in my tracks. I thought he was the most beautiful person I had ever seen. Even at a young age, I really related to his sadness."

Here's the original video for 'Heart Shaped Box'.
