Courtney Love London Show Cancelled
Due to rave chaos
A highly anticipated London show from Courtney Love has been cancelled due to a rave 'riot' in the city.
Courtney Love has been dogged by controversy in recent years. From claims that Kurt Cobain's ashes had been stolen to her well documented money problems the grunge icon has rarely been out of the press.
However the singer recently turned attention back on what she does best. Completing her new album 'Nobody's Daughter' recently Courtney Love is set to release her first batch of new material in almost a decade.
The current cover star of Clash Magazine, Courtney Love is in London right now to promote her new album. Scheduled to perform a surprise show at Proud Galleries, the singer was forced to postpone the date due to a rave 'riot'.
Organised on Facebook, the party took place in an abandoned townhouse building. Thousands of teenagers descended on the event, with police being called to try and stem the disturbance in the area.
Park Lane was blocked off by police, who attempted to calm down the situation. The Daily Telegraph reports that teenagers then stoned the police, with a number of streets being shut off.
Caught up in the chaos, Courtney Love was unable to make the venue on time. Apologising to fans on her own Facebook page, the grunge singer blamed a squatters riot for her non-appearance.
"There was a squatters riot outside my house in Park Lane tonight," she wrote. "A big scary weird one… 3,000 people turned into 10,000 and the cops refused to let us go out to Smash & Grab at Proud. And I'm so so sorry, all dressed up with nowhere to go."
Hole are set to play the Shepherd's Bush Empire in London on February 17th.
