Courtney Love / Billy Corgan Writing Together
Corgan contributes to new album
Grunge icon Courtney Love has exclusively revealed to ClashMusic that Billy Corgan has been contributing to the new Hole album.
Formed in the early 90s, Hole became one of the foremost Riot Grrl bands. Blending punk with a feminist attitude, they represented a new breed of groups who wanted to rock just as hard as men.
However the band's output has been the continual source of rumour. Courtney Love's marriage to Kurt Cobain meant that the Nirvana frontman was considered the source of Hole's early material.
After this, a close friendship to Billy Corgan saw the Smashing Pumpkins singer become a huge influence on the group. Speaking to ClashMusic ahead of the release of Hole's new album 'Nobody's Daughter' Courtney Love revealed that she is still close to Corgan.
Speaking about the track 'How Dirty Girls Get Clean' the singer revealed that Billy Corgan helped to draft the music for one version of the song. "Linda (Perry) and Billy (Corgan) made candy out of this thing - it was very Linda and Billy’s music" she stated.
Continuing, Courtney Love revealed that she has recorded extensively with Billy Corgan, with the Smashing Pumpkins leader contributing the main riff to lead single 'Samantha'.
Later the Hole singer claimed that Billy Corgan had saved her life. "I love him but he’s seen by a lot of people to not be a very loveable person" she explained. "But I’ll always be loyal to him - he save my life, physically, twice. He gave me CPR. He’s a good guy there."
