Fans get album preview

Returning Manchester group The Courteeners are set to offer fans a new download preview of their forthcoming album.

The Courteeners were formed by Liam Fray, an aspiring songwriter who tired of the rigours of nine to five existence. Recruiting a number of musicians from open mic nights across his hometown of Manchester, the band soon began to make waves with their anthemic material.

Debut album 'St Jude' was released in 2008, reaching the upper regions of the charts. The Courteeners played a celebratory sold out tour across the country, with fans singing back every song from the long player.

Since the release of 'St Jude' the band have toured almost constantly, still finding time to record the single 'That Kiss'. Demonstrating Liam Fray's rapidly blossoming songwriting talent, the single became an immediate favourite with fans.

Taking time off the road The Courteeners began working on their second album. Teaming up with Ed Buller - whose credits include Pulp and Suede - the band are now ready to show off the results.

The first taste fans will get of the new material is the song 'Cross My Heart And Hope To Fly', due to be released as a free download. Available via their official website from December 7th, the track is also set to be released on seven inch vinyl with a brand new B-side.

'Cross My Heart And Hope To Fly' is taken from the band's forthcoming second album, which is due to be released on February 2010.

In addition to this, the band have also confirmed a spectacular homecoming show. The Courteeners will tread the boards at Manchester Central on December 11th, unveiling material from their new album.
