Conor Oberst Documentary
With Mystic Valley Band
Celebrated American songwriter Conor Oberst is set to release a new documentary focussing on his recent work with the Mystic Valley Band.
Recording under the alias Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst has been a lynch-pin of the acclaimed Saddle Creek collective. Combining a shrewd knowledge of American roots music with a love of punk rock, the label has churned out a steady flow of stunning albums over the past decade.
However Oberst tired of the Bright Eyes moniker and began working with a new group of musicians he termed the Mystic Valley Band. Their self-titled debut album was released last year, to warm praise by fans and critics alike.
The group toured the world, with the famously truculent nature of Oberst to the fore. Along the way guitar tech Phil Schaffart filmed the musicians both on and off stage, capturing a unique insight into this wonderful band.
Forthcoming film 'One Of My Kind' is the result of this work. A sixty minute journey that follows the band across America and beyond, the film shows another side to Oberst, one that fans rarely get to see.
In another bonus, the film will be shown for FREE on the internet. Initially available as a free stream or HD download, some sites will also be given out-takes, trailers and live acoustic performances.
Oberst has taken the decision to show the film for free in the hope that fans will donate to the website Causecast, an organisation that helps bring attention to charities and non-profit causes.
Currently on tour across North America, Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band have just finished putting the finishing touches to their second album 'Outer South'. The first material fans have heard from the album is the free download single 'Nikorette' which you can grab right now at Oberst's official site!
