Coldplay have confirmed a new EP release for December in a probing interview conducted by none other than R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe.
In the radio interview two of the biggest band's on the planet went head to head, with Stipe querying the band on rumours that they are to release new material shortly. Lead singer Chris Martin "We’re going to put an EP out at Christmas called Prospects March and we’re going to release an album next December to end the decade."
The EP is set to be released on December 26th, coming only months after the spectacular global success of the group's fourth album "Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends". It is not yet known if the EP will include material from the band's sessions with Brian Eno.
Michael Stipe has been friends with the band for some time, with the R.E.M. singer famous for delivering advice to bands struggling in the glare of new found fame.
Stipe was gushing in his praise of the the British stadium fillers saying "here are some contemporaries, I respect what they do and they’re really smart fun people great people to be around and they’re very close friends."
