Children's organisation benefits

Globe trotting stadium giants Coldplay have dug deep and donated £1 million to a children's charity.

Perhaps Coldplay really are the new U2. Emerging from an indie background the group have become world beaters through their euphoric songs and sheer hard work.

Of course, having a Hollywood star as his wife marks singer Chris Martin out somewhat. The band's recent album 'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends' was a global success, and it seems that Coldplay have decided to spend some of that dough.

The band have decided to donate £1 million to children's charity Kids Company after hearing of the work they do. Coldplay were touched after previous visits to centres operated by the charity.

"They were moved by the tough stories they heard and want to be genuine participants." said Kids Company's founder Camila Batmanghelidjh about the donation.

"I got the feeling the donation was something they had planned from the start of their careers" she added.

Coldplay also plan to give music lessons to the children.

This isn't the only bit of good will Coldplay are sending out into the world. A recent Wembley Arena show boasted support slots from White Lies, Girl Aloud and current Clash Magazine cover star Jay-Z.

At one point Coldplay teamed up with 'Spaced' actor Simon Pegg for a rendition of 'Trouble' before playing an acoustic version of the Michael Jackson classic 'Billie Jean'.
