Coldplay Confirm Exeter Castle Show
Mencap event announced
Globe trotting indie rock megastars Coldplay are set to return to the UK for an intimate charity show.
Coldplay are now one of the biggest bands on the planet. With their album 'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends' topping charts around the globe, the band took off on a celebratory tour.
Playing to their biggest crowds to date, Coldplay seemed to revel in the atmosphere. After years of hard work here was their reward - playing to astonished crowds in some of the planet's biggest venues.
Since then, the band have secluded themselves away with producer Brian Eno to work on new material. Coldplay are said to be contemplating a left-field direction with drummer Will Champion telling interviewers that he is experimenting with drum machines.
Now Coldplay are due to return to the UK for a small scale charity show. Taking place at Exeter Castle on December 19th the date is in aid of Mencap's Big Noise Sessions.
The band are due to play inside a marquee which will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland, with Coldplay set to be joined by La Roux, Jo Whiley and Lily Allen.
Foul mouthed princess of pop Allen confirmed yesterday (December 3rd) that she is set to take a break from music for over a year. The singer intends to open a fashion rental store, with the Exeter Castle date representing one of her final shows.
Chris Martin issued a statement claiming he was overjoyed by the prospect of returning to the UK. "I don't think there could be a better way to end the decade - La Roux, Lily Allen, Jo Whiley - what more can you ask for?" the singer revealed.
"We're proud to support Mencap and, for me, it's exciting to play my hometown. We haven't played there since 2000. It's going to be really, really special."
Tickets for the show will be priced at £50 with all profits goings to Mencap.
Coldplay will play the following show:
