Cold Specks have announced a full British tour on the same day they are to appear on Later… With Jools Holland.
Each day, ClashMusic receives countless press releases extolling the virtues of new talent. To be honest, the majority of influences on show overlap. So it comes as no small surprise to skim through a James Joyce quote before being confronted with inspirations such as Mahalia Jackson, Tom Waits and Bill Callahan.
Cold Specks, set your heights high. Debut single ‘Holland’ is out now, an evocative blend of languid instrumentation and very direct songwriting.
Led by Canadian Al Spx, the London based group have been gathering praise throughout the second half of 2011. Playing larger and larger venues, Cold Specks will be broadcast to millions on tonight’s ‘Later… With Jools Holland’.
Set to perform on the BBC music showcase, Cold Specks will be able to show off Al Spx’s very natural voice. A husky mixture of soulful greats and gritty songwriters, the singer has a rich, tender style which belies her years.
Broadcast tonight (November 4th) Cold Specks will follow the performance with a full British tour. Taking place this February, the band are set to open the tour in Glasgow on February 23rd.
Visiting Liverpool on February 24th, the tour then shoots through Manchester, Oxford and more before hitting London. Due to perform in the Bush Hall, Cold Speck will then end the tour with a one off date in Bristol.
