Codeine Velvet Club Hometown Show

A new group with familiar faces, Codeine Velvet Club have confirmed details of a special new hometown show.

Glasgow's music scene is legendary. From Alex Harvey and Lulu through to Franz Ferdinand and Hudson Mohawke, the city seems to throw up free thinking mavericks with alarming regularity.

A well known face on the city's open mic circuit, Jon Lawler struck gold when he formed The Fratellis. Grabbing a host of Top 40 singles the group's debut album became a massive success.

Returning with a new collection of material last year, the group played a host of festival shows to ecstatic crowds.

However lead singer Jon Lawler was always eager for a new challenge. The frontman decided to hook up with some old friends and launch another project - Codeine Velvet Club.

Announcing their arrival to the world earlier this year the band played a series of small shows across the country. Now almost ready to release their debut album Codeine Velvet Club have decided to return to where it all began.

Announcing the news on their website, Codeine Velvet Club are due to play a free show in Glasgow's Oran Mor venue this Wednesday (November 4th).

Codeine Velvet Club have now finished their debut album, which is due to drop just before the year is out. A mature effort, the record showcases Jon Lawler's songwriting prowess.
