Coachella Prepares Line Up

One of North America's biggest festivals has announced the first of its headline acts, with Sir Paul McCartney, The Killers, The Cure and many more confirmed.

Coachella is amongst the biggest events in the United States. Set in a patch of desert outside Los Angeles, it attracts some massive names to play in the scorching sunshine. A specialist at getting acts to reform, there had been rumours that Pavement would play a set but they have yet to be confirmed.

Sir Paul McCartney is set to headline Coachella. In the UK, memories linger of his stunning turn at Glastonbury, and Coachella audiences are in for a treat. Given his back catalogue, Macca could play for a week and not bore anyone.

Joining the former Beatle on the bill are Las Vegas icons The Killers and British goth legends The Cure. Will Robert Smith's make up run in the heat? We'll need to wait and see.

Joining them for the event are Morrissey, Franz Ferdinand, My Bloody Valentine and (if all goes to plan) Amy Winehouse. Winehouse made Grammy history last year, but has rarely performed in America since making this appearance quite a coup.

Coachella festival takes place between April 17th - 19th.
